COVID19: Worship remotely with Marquand Chapel

Image:

In compliance with Yale’s efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19, daily services in Marquand Chapel are suspended until further notice. Though we lament that we cannot gather for worship together in person, we will continue to pray with and for one another from afar. Starting Monday, Marquand will facilitate worship remotely in three ways:

1. Several times a week, Marquand will send out a brief video service led by students, faculty, and staff, all contributing to our worship life remotely from home. These devotional videos will include scripture readings, prayers, homilies, and sacred music. While we realize these videos cannot replace the joy of worshipping together in the Marquand space, we hope this resource will be a helpful tool for those seeking to carve out time for prayer each day. You’ll see lots of familiar faces!

2. The content of these video liturgies will also be adapted to an email format designed for you to worship individually, with a roommate or friend at home, or in small groups of your choosing. That way if video-worship isn’t your preference, you can take these resources to offline.

3. We will be collecting and sharing community prayer requests via email and social media. We are also seeking student volunteers to read these prayer requests on Marquand’s Instagram Stories or Facebook Stories.

To get involved in any of these above online worship projects, please contact Emilie Casey (Director of Chapel)  at emilie.casey@yale.edu or Nathaniel Gumbs (Director of Chapel Music) at nathaniel.gumbs@yale.edu
