In collaboration with YDS’s First Year Experience (online orientation for incoming students), Marquand Chapel will resume worship once weekly via ZOOM starting Monday, July 13, 1:00-1:30pm EST. While these services are designed with incoming students in mind, all are invited to join!

All FYE services can be accessed via ZOOM. Please contact marquand@yale.edu to participate. These services will be recorded for internal use only. Recording will not be shared publicly.

Monday, July 13, 1:00-1:30pm - CALLED BY NAME: worship rooted in scriptural narratives about God’s people being named, re-named, or longing for a different name; this service will feature special music led by Jathan Martin and Director of Music Nathaniel Gumbs; readings by David Potter, Jessica Yu, Joshua Huber, and Tori Crook; reflection by Director of Chapel Emilie Casey; prayers led by Jalen Parks; and a blessing from our upcoming Dean of Chapel Awet Andemicael.

Monday, July 20, 1:00-1:30pm - REJOICE WITH THOSE WHO REJOICE; WEEP WITH THOSE WHO WEEP: worship led Dean Greg Sterling, Tara Humphries, Phoenix Gonzalez, and JaQuan Beachem;  special music led by Mark Miller, director of Marquand Gospel and Inspirational Choir (MaGIC).

Monday, July 27, 1:00-1:30pm - BEATITUDES: worship featuring brief reflections by students Essence Ellis, Molli Mitchell, and Dawn Jefferson.

Monday, August 3, 1:00-1:30pm - SELAH: Throughout the book of Psalms, there is a mysterious word that comes up over and over again—selah. But we have no idea what this word means! This service embraces not knowing what selah means, for it is when we do not know how to pray that the Spirit intercedes for us with sighs too deep for words. Featuring reading from Toni Morrison’s Beloved.

Monday, August 10 at 1:00 – 1:30 - See marquandchapel.yale.edu/calendar for updates about our worship services and events.
